Laura Pitcher

Speech-Language Pathologist

​

Laura Pitcher, founder of Mariposa Speech and Language Clinic, is a registered speech-language pathologist. Having completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto, Laura went on to become a Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA). While gaining valuable experience in the field working as a CDA, Laura also completed her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology with Nova Southeastern University in Florida.

Laura continually updates her knowledge and skills in order to provide you with evidence-based therapy tailored to the needs of your loved ones. Laura is certified in It Takes Two To Talk(R) - The Hanen Program for Parents of Children with Language Delays, as well as More Than Words(R) - The Hanen Program for Parents of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder or Social Communication Difficulties. She has also received training in PECS Level 1 (the Picture Exchange Communication System), PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets), and has completed continuing education in the Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol. She has also received training in Supported Conversation for Adults with Aphasia (SCAA).

Laura is experienced in working with both children and adults who have speech, language, and swallowing difficulties and is committed to enhancing the quality of life for all of her clients.

Laura is a member in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).

Our clinic is currently looking to fill the following position:

Job Description: Speech-Language Pathologist

​

We are currently looking for a passionate, motivated, and experienced SLP to join our growing team and help us meet the needs of our community. 

​

Hours: Monday-Friday, flexible, part-time

​

Salary: $98/hour

​

Key Responsibilities:

​

  • Provide comprehensive speech and language assessments for children and adults with communication difficulties. Knowledge and experience with a range of developmental disabilities is considered an asset.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results

  • Provide therapy to clients of all ages and abilities who have communication disorders

  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed

  • Documenting client progress and maintain accurate records according to college guidelines

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care​​​​

  • Maintain knowledge of evidence-based practices and current research in speech-language pathology.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology.​

  • Member in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).​​

  • Experience working with preschool and school-aged children.​​

  • Experience working with adults.​

  • Demonstrate flexibility and time-management skills.

  • Self-directed, independent, and motivated.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent assessment and intervention skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team with other disciplines.

  • Comfort with technology, including Zoom video-conferencing technology and Microsoft Office.

  • Vulnerable sector check.

  • Valid driver’s license.
